Tip #3 Home Business Entrepreneurs reward themselv

A tip we have to give you very early on in this series is the importance of rewarding yourself. If you had a chance to view the video associated with this home based business tip, you saw Jani pampering herself on a Friday afternoon in a bubbly Jacuzzi hot tub. Some have asked if Jani was wearing a bathing suit or not during the production and I will re-direct you to Jani to get that question answered (or watch the video carefully). But that's beside the point.
In the video clip Jani explains that she has a routine on Friday afternoons where she takes time for herself and for quality time with her daughter. And if I may correlate this to our previous blog on being organized and keeping a schedule; Jani does mark this pampering activity to her schedule - whether the activity is business related or personal, it is assigned its designated spot in the schedule.
Now you may be asking: what does taking a bubble bath have to do with business tips? Well first it's about relaxation. It doesn't have to be a bubble bath, it can be reading a good book, taking a walk on the beach, go to the movies, whatever makes you disconnect, change your mind, change your thoughts. When you relax and change your thoughts, you remove stress, you recharge and are therefore refreshed for more upcoming productivity. You are happier and this radiates all around you and people will notice.
Here's another even more important part to this relaxation. When you relax or pamper yourself, you are in fact rewarding yourself. Just like when an employer approaches an employee and says "job well done, take the afternoon off", you too can say to yourself "job well done". As a home based business owner, you're your own boss and you have to learn to work diligently as much as you have to learn to reward yourself. A job well done needs to be acknowledged and if you don't do it, nobody will do it for you. It's one of the failures new home based business Entrepreneurs commonly do. They somehow feel that when starting their businesses it must be all work and no play and they forget that one of the reasons they started their business in the first place was for time freedom and quality time. So why not start incorporating some good time from the onset.
As mentioned in a previous article, you need to design a schedule for yourself and you have to adhere to it. Your reward time has to be incorporated in your schedule and the very fact that you adhere to your schedule is why you should reward yourself. Base your rewards on effort rather than results. Consistently applying the effort marked on your schedule is what will bring the results you're looking for.
So we covered the importance of relaxing which is in fact a way to reward yourself. Those are two important factors to remember but there's a third one. For your reward to have the most impact, you need to appreciate it. I'm sure you see this as an obvious factor however you might be surprised at the amount of people who, in the midst of their reward time, keep thinking of all the worries and problems they have. This totally negates the rewarding activity and robs you from an opportunity to be grateful. Enjoy the moment, fully appreciate the experience and be grateful for what you have. Appreciation is a building block to the way you show up for your business everyday and how you radiate around people you communicate with. It has an impact on your mind, your thoughts, your business and your results.
There are many little nuances on how to make rewards work for you and have the most impact and we love teaching it to our team but in the lines available here there's just so much we can write. So let's focus on your next step? How about you go to your schedule and add to it some relaxation and rewarding time, it will be most appreciated!
